Doug Ellin Entourage Interview
Entourage creator Doug Ellin gave an interesting interview to Broadcasting & Cable, discussing the upcoming season, his feelings about the previous season, and much more. Check it out below.
Entourage is up for five Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series. How about that?
Yes, it was unexpected. Some people thought the show lost its way last season, and not to defend it, I thought it was our weakest season. But this season I think we have our best season.
Why is this season the best?
I just think it all came together. Last year we had a little trouble keeping it together. I think the through-line arc works better this year. There are great cameos, we got [Executive Producer and Entourage muse] Mark Wahlberg back. We shot with Phil Mickelson, Tony Bennett, and we have a lot of great directors on the show.
You wrote three of the first four episodes. Do you usually write that much?
I usually write the first two and the last one. Over the years, a lot of rewriting goes into the process. This year we have three writers on actual scripts [Ellin, Rob Weiss and Ally Musika]. I wrote 60%-70% this year. I wanted to start it off and say this is where we are going.
How did the WGA work stoppage impact Entourage and its production and premiere schedule?
Basically we lost two episodes. We didn’t have time to get the 14 done we initially set out to do. I had a storyline that was going to deal with the writers’ strike to air in June, when were going to start airing. It just hurt us. We were supposed to be on in June, now we’ll be on in September. If there are no other strikes, hopefully we’ll be back on track for next summer.
In the premiere episode you have film critic Richard Roeper going to college with the character Ari, but you already established where Ari went to college and I do not think it’s the same place. People have given you a hard time about continuity before...
Yeah, I don’t really care. Ari’s had three kids, now he has two. People want to say I’m moronic. I do know the details, but sometimes it’s not as funny.

Entourage Season 5 Review
Read Variety's Season 5 Entourage review below.
"Entourage" gets its fifth season off to a swell start. The first two segs, sent out this week by HBO, breeze by in what feels like about 10 minutes.
There's a clear story arc building for our stubbly hero Vince, who's south of the border licking his wounds (with tequila and bikinis) from the devastating reviews that are still rolling in on "Medellin" in the season opener. Ben Silverman's cameo as himself comes in the first seg, and if you look closely you can also see his NBC Entertainment lieutenant Teri Weinberg by his side.
You don't have to look closely to spot Endeavor's Richard Weitz. He pops up early on in the opening seg and nails the part of an MGA agent offering Ari Gold a little post-"Medellin" empathy.
As always, "Entourage" really belongs to Jeremy Piven's Ari. By the end of episode two, Piven has pretty much clinched his fifth consecutive Emmy nom for the role he seems born to play. He's greatly aided by punchy writing and directing in both segs, "Fantasy Land" and "Unlike a Virgin," from series creator Doug Ellin and helmer Mark Mylod.
"Entourage's" 12-episode run begins Sept. 7.

Pablo Escobar Flicks in Trouble
Just as Entourage's Pablo Escobar movie Medellin experienced setbacks, two competing and actual projects about the Colombian druglord are also facing major problems.
Killing Pablo was originally set to feature Javier Bardem in the leading role (opposite Christian Bale) but the actor recently dropped out of the project. Negotiations have begun with Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez to replace Bardem, and the director is done scouting locales in Colombia and Mexico. Currently, they have an October start date.
Meanwhile, Antoine Fuqua and Oliver Stone's Escobar has been delayed because of last winter's writers' strike, other directing commitments, and a current financial dispute with sales partner Essential Entertainment. No start date has been set.

More Cameos for Season 5
MSN provides some details about more Season 5 cameos and appearances.
In addition to Bow Wow, Lukas Haas and Giovanni Ribisi will be clients of Eric.
Fran Drescher and Kevin Pollack will be playing an annoying Beverly Hills couple.
Tony Bennett will be making a cameo in the 5th season.
Finally, Carla Gugino (Amanda), Martin Landau (Bob Ryan), and Paul Ben-Victor (Alan) will be back. According to Entourage Show, Ari will attempt to sell Amanda on a film.
All this sounds great but I hope they don't rely too too heavily on cameos and past characters this season.
Entourage Gets Leid
The cast is pictured on the Santa Monica set of their show filming scenes for their upcoming Hawaii episode.
It looks like several of the episodes this season will be taking place outside of LA. It has been confirmed that the group will be heading to Hawaii, New Mexico, and New York for episodes this season.

Sopranos Star on Entourage
Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn Sigler is currently shooting a three-episode arc for the upcoming season of Entourage. She'll be playing herself and a potential love interest for one of the guys. Since Doug Ellin has confirmed that Turtle will have a girlfriend this season, I'm assuming Sigler will play his girlfriend.
Other confirmed cameos for the fifth season include Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development), Bow Wow, T.I., Leighton Meeser (Gossip Girls), Fran Drescher, Eric Roberts, Gary Cole, Phil Mickelson, and Mark Wahlberg.

Doug Ellin Reveals More About Season 5
Entourage creator Doug Ellin revealed some information about the upcoming 5th season.
Season 5 will focus on one central question: Will Medellin be saved?
Also, there will be more character development for Ari and Turtle. "This is going to be Turtle's breakout year. Jerry's been waiting his turn to get some storylines, he's been begging me, so this year he's going to have some stuff. You'll get to see him with a girlfriend, you get to see him pursue actual jobs." Is the girlfriend Ellin's referring to Lauren London, who played Kelly in Season 3 and just disappeared?
Ellin also revealed that he is developing a new show for HBO that he describes as a cross between Entourage and Mad Men. "It's about Wall Street guys-it's sort of like a Mad Men on Wall Street in 2008 instead of the 1950s. It will be more sophisticated, hopefully, than Entourage-I don't think there will be a Johnny Drama in this one."

Season 5 Episode 1 Spoilers!
I found this information about the first episode of Season 5 on http://www.entourageshow.blogspot.com/. I don't know how accurate it is but I thought I'd share.
-After the failure of Medellin at Cannes, Vince and Turtle head to New Mexico to get away.
-Eric and Drama remain in Hollywood. Eric hires a new assistant Jane and has a new client Charlie (Bow Wow). Charlie is a comedian with a bad attitude and becomes increasingly upset with Eric when he's unable to find him work. Drama is becoming even more famous and has begun filming the new season of Five Towns. He is recognized everywhere and is starting to attract the paparazzi.
-The future of Medellin is still unclear. Are they recutting the film? Is Walsh coming back? The overwhelming response is that the film is so bad that it is beyond recutting. In addition, Richard Roeper trashes Medellin on his show. Lloyd is hit with about every known object to man while trying to console Ari after the poor reviews.
-Despite the poor reviews, producer Carl Ertz is eager to cast Vince in his film, Danger Beach, after losing the movie's lead Emile Hirsh. The movie gives Vince the opportunity to revive his career and Carl is willing to pay him top dollar. As a result, Ari sets up a meeting for Carl to meet Vince.
-Vince is still MIA, forcing Eric and Drama to charter a flight to New Mexico to find Vince and bring him back for the meeting with Carl. They find him and after a quick heart to heart between Eric and Vince, they all head back to LA for the meeting
-Vince finally meets with Carl. Nothing is decided, except that Vince does not like the title Danger Beach and prefers the title High Tide. Carl doesn't seem to mind. (Note: It seems like the writers do not want to attach Vince to a film at this point).
